The Village Mountain Mission Project
What we do...
HOME BUILDING, preschool, medical assistance

Village Mountain Mission provides Construction of homes is how the mission began and is still the heart of the mission. Since the mission started over 20 years ago, Village Mountain Mission has built over 70 homes for families in need. During the summer months we strive to build over 4 houses and turn them in to homes. During the summer months we strive to build at least 4 houses for the poorest of the poor in the villages. Construction crews generally come from scout troops, high school groups, church youth groups and college groups. We provide on-site construction instruction and management, so everyone can participate regardless of your construction knowledge or experience. Construction groups stay on our private grounds, but generally work on a single house in a designated village, so participants really get to know the villagers (especially the children) and the family for whom they are building.

Preschool in 5 separate villages in the Puerto Plata, Luperon area of the Dominican Republic. There are 2 classes per day with one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We teach preschoolers the alphabet, colors, and shapes so when they enroll in school they are ready to learn. We also provide a meal and a snack when they are there. We also teach the children proper dental care and hygiene to help keep them healthy.

Medical Clinics are provided numerous times of the year for the surrounding villages in the  Puerto Plata,  Luperon region trying to reach the most remote local villages that have difficulty reaching medical services. Medical teams provide basic care, wound care, diabetes and hypertension education, dental care, simple surgical procedures, and public health education are the focus  for the villagers.  Training and educating local VMM associated women to be on ground public health and first aid providers is also performed by our teams. Medical groups come down and stay on our private grounds and leave to visit the villages they will be administering to for the day.
