HEALER PROGRAM

If we are going to have a positive, long-term effect on the health of families, we need to train local individuals to monitor and diagnose health issues in the villages.  It is the primary goal of the Medical Mission to train these individuals to make them as effective as possible.  We have identified and begun training such a team; they are called "healers".

We are currently taking the steps necessary to open two "mini" clinics, to be used by the Healers.  It is our intention to have each opened one half day per week.  Two healers would serve each: updating vitals, administering preliminary health care, offering wellness education, and refilling prescribed medications.

We have also recruited a team of young men and trained to serve as "first responders" to administer first aid during local emergencies.  They are also trained to take an active role in our clinics.
